Meeting his Parents

Meeting a boyfriend's family for the first time can be one of the most nerve racking experiences a girl has to endure. It's hard to decide what to wear to gain the approval of his parents -- especially his mother.

If you follow a few simple rules, it is almost guaranteed that his mother will approve of your fashion sense.

1. Do not wear logo bags or shoes or clothing -- skip Louis Vuitton and Gucci -- you don't want to look materialistic.

      You don't want to look cheap though, so wear classical pieces that show you have good taste: maybe consider a nice Valentio, Valextra or Hermes bag and a pair of Tod's driving shoes or simple pumps (think classic Manolos, rather than flashy Louboutins.)

2. We all love Herve Leger, but this is not the time or place to wear it. Your boyfriend's parents will not be impressed by how sexy you look, so don't be afraid to hide your figure under a loose fitting dress. I personally like Oscar De La Renta and Dolce and Gabbana. 

3. Think Anne Hathaway not Paris Hilton.

4. Dress event appropriate. Do not wear a sexy cocktail dress to a BBQ party. Jeans and a nice top are fine.

5. Be friendly but don't talk too much.

6. Show you're considerate by bringing a nice hostess gift if you're going to someone's home. Home-baked goods are lovely, as are flowers, china, and candles, avoid alcohol.

7. Lastly, be yourself and have fun!
